In these days music industries are working in every country and are getting bigger and bigger thanks to Globalization. Everything we hear goes around all over the world and vice versa. Globalization is based on development of the technology of communications so as everyone can exchange all sorts of information like movie, news and everything including music.
Especially the improvement of music players and Internet is considerable. Listen to music through a mobile phone can be a representative model for globalization meets technical development. Just 10~15yrs ago, we started to have mobile phones universally, but still didn’t think we’ll be able to listening to music through it. Now we have very small and light MP3 players like i-pod, and multi-functional mobile phones so as we can listen to music, which the files usually we download from world wide Internet servers easily, anytime, anywhere. Not only from Internet, we buy CDs made by foreign musicians, from every CD stores. Development of transportation makes it possible to deliver those products from countries to countries.
Therefore performers also go and come everywhere in the world. Many countries have their own national music festivals those invites famous musicians from other countries. For example, there's a music festival in Korea, it is called 'Pentaport Music Festival' which many singers and bands from different countries and also audiences were composed with many people from various countries. Furthermore, many Asians and even some western people love Korean music. In Asia, there is a big stream named ‘Han-ryu’. A big number of Asian people hear and see Korean music and music videos and they want to be like Korean singers they see.
Remarkable thing that we can hear whatever we want but also there has been a big problem which is piracy. Because people don’t pay for downloading music files to their computer or mp3 players or i-pod. They share and copy the files without any restraint. This is a quite serious matter, as the companies cannot make enough income to pay their performers. It can possibly interfere the improvement of music industry. We should continue work on it. We could make it better by strictly restrain piracy activities and constantly encouraging people to buy legal products, also make products impossible to copy.
